DTC C1436 Yaw Rate Sensor Malfunction |
DESCRIPTION
The skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) receives signals from the yaw rate and deceleration sensor (airbag sensor assembly) via the CAN communication system. The yaw rate and deceleration sensor (airbag sensor assembly) has a built-in deceleration sensor and detects the vehicle's condition using 2 circuits (GL1, GL2). If there is trouble in the bus lines between the yaw rate and deceleration sensor (airbag sensor assembly) and the CAN communication system, the DTC U0124 (Lost Communication with Lateral Acceleration Sensor Module) is output.
These DTCs are also output when calibration has not been completed.
DTC No. | DTC Detection Condition | Trouble Area |
C1436 | Either of the following is detected:
| Yaw rate and deceleration sensor (Airbag sensor assembly) |

Refer to DTCs C1232, C1243 and C1245 (Click here).INSPECTION PROCEDURE
- NOTICE:
- When replacing the brake actuator assembly, perform zero point calibration (Click here).
- Inspect the fuses for circuits related to this system before performing the following inspection procedure.
- HINT:
- When U0124 and/or U0126 is output together with C1436, inspect and repair the trouble areas indicated by U0124 and/or U0126 first (Click here).
1.READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (YAW RATE SENSOR) |
Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
Turn the ignition switch to ON.
Turn the Techstream on.
Enter the following menus: Chassis / ABS/VSC/TRAC / Data List.
According to the display on the Techstream, read the Data List.
ABS/VSC/TRAC Tester Display Measurement Item/Range Normal Condition Diagnostic Note Yaw Rate Sensor Yaw rate sensor/min.: -128°/s, max.: 127°/s 0°/s: Vehicle stationary
-128 to 0°/s: Turning right
0 to 127°/s: Turning left-
Check that the yaw rate and deceleration sensor (airbag sensor assembly) output value displayed on the Techstream.
Result Result Proceed to NG (The yaw rate and deceleration sensor (airbag sensor assembly) output value is 0°/s when the vehicle is stationary, but the value fluctuates when turning) A NG (The yaw rate and deceleration sensor (airbag sensor assembly) output value is not 0°/s when the vehicle is stationary) B OK C - NOTICE:
- Check the yaw rate and deceleration sensor (airbag sensor assembly) signal after replacement (Click here).
- HINT:
- If troubleshooting has been carried out according to the Problem Symptoms Table, refer back to the table and proceed to the next step (Click here).

2.CHECK YAW RATE AND DECELERATION SENSOR (AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY) INSTALLATION |
Turn the ignition switch off.
Check that the yaw rate and deceleration sensor (airbag sensor assembly) has been installed properly (Click here).
- OK:
- The sensor should be tightened to the specified torque.
- The sensor should not be installed in a tilted position.
- NOTICE:
- Check the yaw rate and deceleration sensor (airbag sensor assembly) signal after replacement (Click here).
- HINT:
- If troubleshooting has been carried out according to the Problem Symptoms Table, refer back to the table and proceed to the next step (Click here).
