DTC    B1660/43    Passenger Airbag ON/OFF Indicator Circuit Malfunction


DESCRIPTION

The passenger airbag ON/OFF indicator circuit consists of the airbag sensor assembly and the telltale light assembly (Passenger airbag ON/OFF indicator).
The passenger airbag ON/OFF indicator indicates the operation condition of the front passenger airbag.
DTC B1660/43 is recorded when a malfunction is detected in the passenger airbag ON/OFF indicator circuit.

  1. The airbag sensor assembly receives an open circuit signal, a short circuit to ground signal or a short circuit to B+ signal in the passenger airbag ON/OFF indicator circuit for 2 seconds.

  3. Airbag sensor assembly malfunction

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

NOTICE:
Inspect the fuses for circuits related to this system before performing the following inspection procedure.
1.CHECK TELLTALE LIGHT ASSEMBLY (PASSENGER AIRBAG ON/OFF INDICATOR CONDITION)
  1. Turn the ignition switch to ON.



  1. Check the passenger airbag ON/OFF indicator operation.

    HINT:
    Refer to the normal condition of the passenger airbag ON/OFF indicator (Click here).

2.CHECK CONNECTION OF CONNECTORS
  1. Turn the ignition switch off.

  1. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

    CAUTION:
    Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.
  1. Check that the connectors are properly connected to the airbag sensor assembly and the telltale light assembly.

    OK:
    The connectors are properly connected.

3.CHECK CONNECTORS
  1. Disconnect the connectors from the airbag sensor assembly and the telltale light assembly.

  1. Check that the connectors (on the airbag sensor assembly side and telltale light assembly side) are not damaged.

    OK:
    The connectors are not deformed or damaged.

4.CHECK TELLTALE LIGHT ASSEMBLY (PASSENGER AIRBAG ON/OFF INDICATOR)

  1. Connect the connector to the telltale light assembly.

  1. Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery, and wait for at least 2 seconds.

  1. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

  1. Check the passenger airbag ON/OFF indicator operation.

    OK:
    The passenger airbag ON/OFF indicator does not come on.

5.CHECK DTC
  1. Connect the connector to the airbag sensor assembly.

  1. Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery, and wait for at least 2 seconds.

  1. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.

  1. Clear the DTCs stored in the memory (Click here).

  1. Turn the ignition switch off.

  1. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.

  1. Check for DTCs (Click here).

    OK:
    DTC B1660/43 is not output.

    HINT:
    DTCs other than B1660/43 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.

6.CHECK INSTRUMENT PANEL WIRE (AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY - TELLTALE LIGHT ASSEMBLY)
  1. Turn the ignition switch off.

  1. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

    CAUTION:
    Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.


  1. Disconnect the connectors from the telltale light assembly and airbag sensor assembly.

  1. Using a service wire, connect terminals 23 (PAON) and 17 (P-AB) of connector B.

    NOTICE:
    Do not forcibly insert the service wire into the terminals of the connector when connecting the wire.
  1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

7.CHECK CONNECTION OF CONNECTORS
  1. Turn the ignition switch off.

    Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.
  1. Check that the connectors are properly connected to the airbag sensor assembly and the telltale light assembly.

    OK:
    The connectors are properly connected.

  1. Disconnect the connectors from the airbag sensor assembly and the telltale light assembly.

  1. Check that the connectors (on the airbag sensor assembly side and telltale light assembly side) are not damaged.

  1. Turn the ignition switch off.

  1. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

    CAUTION:
    Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.


  1. Disconnect the connectors from the telltale light assembly and airbag sensor assembly.

12.CHECK DTC
  1. Turn the ignition switch off.

  1. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

    CAUTION:
    Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.
  1. Connect the connectors to the airbag sensor assembly.

  1. Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery and wait for at least 2 seconds.

  1. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.

  1. Clear the DTCs stored in the memory (Click here).

  1. Turn the ignition switch off.

  1. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.

  1. Check for DTCs (Click here).

    OK:
    DTC B1660/43 is not output.
