DTC    B2782    Power Source Control ECU Malfunction

for Preparation Click here

DESCRIPTION

The steering lock ECU activates the steering lock motor by the power from the main body ECU through the IGE circuit. This prevents the steering from being locked while the vehicle is moving.
The diagnosis information of the steering lock ECU is transmitted to the tester via the certification ECU as the steering lock ECU is not connected to the CAN communication system.

DTC No.
DTC Detection Condition
Trouble Area
B2782
IGE power supply circuit malfunction
  1. Steering lock actuator (Steering lock ECU)
  2. Wire harness
  3. Instrument panel junction block (Main body ECU)

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

HINT:
When the engine switch is off, the main body ECU may occasionally go into a non-active state called sleep mode. Therefore, before proceeding with the inspection, it is necessary to perform the following step to wake up the ECU:
Before starting the inspection, with the engine switch off, open the driver door. Then (with the engine switch still off) open and close any door several times at 1.5 second intervals.
1.CHECK DTC (CERTIFICATION ECU)
  1. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

  1. Turn the engine switch on (IG) and press the intelligent tester main switch ON.

  1. Read the DTCs of the certification ECU by following the prompts displayed on the intelligent tester.

    OK:
DTC B2782 is output, but DTC B2785 (LIN bus line malfunction) is not output.

REFER TO B2785
OK

2.CHECK STEERING LOCK ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY
B128061E01
  1. Measure the voltage of the steering lock actuator.

    Standard voltage:
    Tester Connection
    Condition
    Specified Condition
    E6-3 (IGE) - E6-2 (SGND)
Turn the engine switch on (IG)
(When steering lock motor is activating)
    Below 1 V
    Engine switch on (IG)
(When steering lock motor is stopped)
    11 to 14 V

    HINT:
When the steering lock is activated and the engine switch is turned on (IG), the steering lock motor activates to release the steering lock. The motor operation occurs for 2 to 15 seconds.

OK
REPLACE STEERING LOCK ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY

3.CHECK WIRE HARNESS (STEERING LOCK ACTUATOR - BODY GROUND)
C122327E12
  1. Disconnect the E6 steering lock actuator connector.

  1. Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connector.

    Standard resistance:
    Tester Connection
    Specified Condition
    E6-2 (SGND) - Body ground
    Below 1 Ω

NG
REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR
OK

4.CHECK WIRE HARNESS (STEERING LOCK ACTUATOR - MAIN BODY ECU)
B128044E01
  1. Disconnect the E6 steering lock actuator connector.

  1. Disconnect the E18 main body ECU connector.

  1. Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connectors.

    Standard resistance:
    Tester Connection
    Specified Condition
    E6-3 (IGE) - E18-7 (SLR+)
    Below 1 Ω
    E6-3 (IGE) or E18-7 (SLR+) - Body ground
    10 kΩ or higher

NG
REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR
OK

REPLACE INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK (MAIN BODY ECU)
