DESCRIPTION

The security courtesy switch (engine hood courtesy switch) is installed together with the hood lock. This switch turns OFF when the engine hood is opened and turns ON when the engine hood is closed.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

1.INSPECT SECURITY COURTESY SWITCH (ENGINE HOOD COURTESY SWITCH)

  1. Remove the courtesy switch from the hood lock.

  1. Measure the resistance of the switch.

    Standard resistance:
    Tester Connection
    Switch Condition
    Specified Condition
    1 - 2
    Not pushed (ON)
    10 kΩ or higher
    1 - 2
    Pushed (OFF)
    Below 1 Ω

2.CHECK WIRE HARNESS (SECURITY COURTESY SWITCH - THEFT WARNING ECU AND BODY GROUND)

  1. Disconnect the E2 switch connector.

  1. Disconnect the T16 ECU connector.

  1. Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connectors.

    Standard resistance:
    Tester Connection
    Specified Condition
    E2-1 - T16-9 (DSWH)
    Below 1 Ω
    E2-1 or T16-9 (DSWH) - Body ground
    10 kΩ or higher
    E2-2 - Body ground
    Below 1 Ω

REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR
