1. Move the shift lever to L.
   

2. Disconnect the control cable from the shift lever.
   

3. Remove the lock clip and disconnect the control cable from the bracket.
   

4. Remove the 2 nuts and disconnect the control cable from the vehicle body.
   

5. Remove the nut and disconnect the control cable from the vehicle body.
   

6. Remove the lock clip and control cable bracket.
   

7. Remove the nut and control cable.
   

1. Install the control cable with the nut.
   

   Torque:

   14 N*m{ 143 kgf*cm , 10 ft.*lbf }

2. Install the control cable bracket and lock clip.
   

3. Connect the control cable to the body with the nut.
   

   Torque:

   5.5 N*m{ 56 kgf*cm , 49 in.*lbf }

4. Connect the control cable to the body with the 2 nuts.
   

   Torque:

   5.5 N*m{ 56 kgf*cm , 49 in.*lbf }

5. Connect the control cable to the bracket with the lock clip.
   

6. Move the shift lever to L.
   

7. Install the control cable to the shift lever.
   

1. Remove the nut and disconnect the control cable.
   

2. Remove the clip and disconnect the control cable from the control cable bracket.
   

3. Push the control shaft rearward as much as possible.
   

4. Return the control shaft lever 2 notches to the N position.
   

5. While holding the control shaft lever slightly toward the R position side, tighten the nut.
   

   Torque:

   14 N*m{ 143 kgf*cm , 10 ft.*lbf }

1. When moving the shift lever from P to R with the ignition switch ON and the brake pedal depressed, make sure that the shift lever moves smoothly and correctly into position.
   

2. Start the engine and make sure that the vehicle moves forward after moving the shift lever from N to D, and moves rearward after shifting to R.
   If the results are not as specified, inspect the park/neutral position switch and adjust the shift lever position.
