1. CHECK SHIFT LOCK OPERATION
  1. Move the shift lever to P.

  1. Turn the engine switch off.

  1. Check that the shift lever cannot be moved from P to any other position

  1. Turn the engine switch on (IG), depress the brake pedal, and check that the shift lever can be moved from P to any other position.
    If the operation cannot be done as specified, inspect the shift lock control unit.



2. CHECK SHIFT LOCK RELEASE BUTTON OPERATION
  1. Turn the engine switch off.

  1. When moving the shift lever with the shift lock release button pressed, check that the shift lever can be moved from P to any other position.
    If the operation cannot be done as specified, check the shift lever assembly installation condition.



3. INSPECT SHIFT LOCK CONTROL UNIT ASSEMBLY

  1. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

    Standard Voltage:
    Tester Connection
    Condition
    Specified Condition
    12 (IG) - 3 (E)
    Engine switch on (IG)
    11 to 14 V
    Engine switch off
    Below 1 V
    6 (STP) - 3 (E)
    Brake pedal depressed
    11 to 14 V
    Brake pedal released
    Below 1 V

    HINT:
    Do not disconnect the shift lock control unit assembly connector.
    If the result is not as specified, replace the shift lock control unit assembly.

  1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

    Standard Resistance:
    Tester Connection
    Condition
    Specified Condition
    3 (E) - Body ground
    Always
    Below 1 Ω

    HINT:
    Do not disconnect the shift lock control unit assembly connector.
    If the result is not as specified, replace the shift lock control unit assembly.
